Dahlia Sympathy Card

This summer I planted some dahlias in my backyard for the first time, and I just loved them!  When I saw that Papertrey Ink's Delightful Dahlia Additions stamp set was finally off of backorder, I just had to order it and give it a try!  For my card base, I embossed the front with the PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate.

I love the depth all of the layers give these flowers!  I had a really hard time lining up the layers when I started with the biggest pieces first, but then I tried going from smallest to biggest, and that ended up working great.  I used PTI scarlet jewel ink for the smallest layer, raspberry fizz for the mid size layer, and hibiscus burst for the main layer.  Then I cut them out with the coordinating dies.  For the center, I die cut some shapes from the Birds & Blooms die set in scarlet jewel cardstock and covered them with Glossy Accents to give them shine.  The leaves were cut with limeade ice cardstock and stamped with limeade ice ink.

My sentiment is from the Asian Fusion stamp set.  I heat embossed it with white embossing powder and then cut out a notch shaped.
