Back to School Pencil Toppers

It's another 3-D Wednesday with My Creative Time!  Today I'm sharing something that I'm working on for my 3rd graders to find on their desks when they walk into the classroom on the first day of school:  some fun ruler pencils with cute pencil toppers!  I found the ruler pencils at Oriental Trading Company, and I followed a great video tutorial by my friend Linda at The Paper Boutique for the toppers.

These toppers are really easy to make.  Basically, you start with a strip of patterned paper that is 1/4" by  3" and wrap it around the pencil.  Crease it where the two sides meet, and then adhere those two side together (the topper is not actually adhered to the pencil, so it can slide up and down when the child needs to use the eraser).

I used the My Creative Time Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies to cut my cardstock and then decorated my cream layer with the "Back to School" sentiment from All Around Everything and the apple, colored with Copic markers, from All Around Goodies.

I used the scallop circle die to cut some cute patterned paper from Fancy Pants' Off to School collection for the back of the topper.  Easy to mass produce, but super cute!
