Merry Christmas Eve! I'm ready to move on from Christmas crafting, so I thought I'd share the birthday card that I made for one of my sweet crafty friends! Because I knew I was going to mail it in a bubble envelope, I didn't have to worry about it being a standard size. Instead, I just cut it the right size for my elements, which ended up being 4 1/4" x 4 3/4"
The birthday candles are cut at 2" from the Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge. To make the frame for them, I die cut kraft cardstock with the My Creative Time Stitched XL Label Die and then stamped it with kraft ink and a background stamp from MCT's Script Type Backgrounds. I used my sewing machine to add some wavy lines to it and then mounted it on the aqua layer cut with the XL Label Die.
I wrapped some kraft ribbon around the cream layer before adhering it to the card base and tied a pretty button to it with Kraft Thick Hemp Twine from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.
The fun sentiment is from MCT's Wow! So Many Candles stamp set.

ReplyDeleteI like how simple but beautiful this card design looks. Your choice of prints for the candles makes the card pop. Beautiful job! I really hope 2013 is my year to get better at making cards. I know what I like when I see it but not coming up with it myself. Happy New Year!
