Homemade Brick Background

I've had so much fun playing with the new Papertrey Ink Cover Plate:  Hexagon Die this week, and it got me wondering if I could create something similar in Silhouette Studio.  Well, it took some time, as I'm still learning the Silhouette Studio program, but I was able to create my own brick background!

The yellow card base is 11" x 4 1/4", scored at 5 1/2".  To make my background I created a small rectangle and then duplicated it and arranged them in a brick pattern within a 4" x 5 1/4" rectangle.  After cutting it out, I adhered the frame to my card base by using 1/8" ScorTape around the edges, and then I began stamping my rectangles.  The aqua polka-dot pattern is from My Creative Time's Coffee Break Stamp Set.  The other three patterns are from Papertrey Ink's Bitty Background Blocks Stamp Set.

I didn't want to cover up too much of the pretty background, so I used the MCT Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies for my sentiment.  The sentiment itself is from MCT's All Around Everything Stamp Set and the image is from All Around Everything Accessories Stamp Set.  I colored it with Copic markers in shades to match the background.
