I spent the last couple of days at my parents' house, and my sister and niece Mary were there too. Mary shares my love of crafting, so when I saw Jana Eubank's post about making a beaded necklace on the Cricut blog, I knew it would be a fun project for us to attempt.
We began by cutting narrow triangles of patterned paper from my collection of scraps. Mary rolled each one from the base of the triangle to the tip, wrapping the paper around a paintbrush to create a hole for the thread to go through later. We added some Scotch Quick Dry glue to secure them. Since Mary was worried about the paper beads holding up as a necklace, she decided to make a paper garland instead, which she plans to drape around the mirror in her bedroom.
Since I didn't want to lug my Cricut up to my parents' house, we created our shapes with dies instead. I brought up my collection of My Creative Time and Papertrey Ink dies, and Mary quickly became an expert using the Cuttlebug. Of course, she also had to create a stash of various shapes to take home for future card making.
It took a while to string the 47 paper beads, 47 die cut shapes, and 94 plastic beads, but we did it! It was definitely a great project that we recommend for summer fun!
And for more fun, pull out your dies from the My Creative Time What's Growing On? stamp and die kit. Hours of entertainment!
