Today is the last day of school! I'm so excited to begin my summer vacation in a few hours! My blog has been a bit neglected this week as I have been feverishly making gifts for my colleagues and students. Today I'm sharing the pretty notebooks I made for my colleagues. I got this idea from a Heidi Swapp video on My Craft Channel.
The 5" x 8" notebooks are from Staples, and they come in packs of twelve. I only needed one 12" x 12" piece of double-sided patterned paper for each notebook cover. The base is cut at 8" x 12", scored to wrap around the notebook. The little strip across the notebook is 1" x 5".
The belly band is cut at 12" x 1 3/4". For each of my colleagues, I cut the initial of the first name, using either the Gypsy Wanderings or Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge. This is adhered to a circle and scalloped circle cut with the Papertrey Ink 1 3/4" Circle Die Collection.
On the front flap, I added a 1" x 8" strip of cardstock, trimmed with the ekSuccess Bumpy Roads edger punch, to give an extra pop of color.
Sorry I don't have a list of products. I had fun picking random sheets of patterned paper at a scrapbook store, but I forgot to record all of their names.
It was fun to choose papers to match each person's personality.
For packaging, I used 6.75" x 9.75" transparent archival bags made by Recollections (found at Michael's). They were the perfect size, and I was able to use a 2" x 7" piece of patterned paper for the topper. So I got the topper, belly band, notebook cover, and strip on the top of the notebook all out of one sheet of paper.
To make my label, I used My Creative Time's Stitched Lollipop Holder Die. I discovered that I could cut two "tags" out of each lollipop holder cut. These were the perfect size for me to write a little message. The sentiment is from MCT's All Around Everything, and the cute flip flops are from MCT's All Around Everything Accessories. They are stamped on the Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies. All of these stamps and dies can be found at the My Creative Time Store.
Sorry there is no product list today - just no time! I'll be posting the gifts I made for my students in the next couple of days. Happy summer!!!

ReplyDeleteWow, these are great!
ReplyDeleteKatie ~ Oh my where do I begin with these! They are just the BEST gift I have seen yet! I LOVE the fact they are done with a 12x12 paper, usable, and personalized for each person! CLEVER, CLEVER idea! All the papers, suited for that person, are so fun and bright! The best part is the monogram too! I LOVE when you use cartridges, which many of us might have forgotten about, and use them! Mini Monograms is one of the first cartridges I bought! Then how CLEVER of you to use the MCT lollipop die and circle for a tag! GENIUS! Plus you get 2 tags out of one die cut! LOVE it ~ LOVE them ALL! I can't wait to see the students gifts!
ReplyDeleteWow these are great! Your colleagues are going to love them and they are so functional. Great job Katie.
