This week the lovely Jinger Adams did a segment on Utah's Studio 5 show called "Flower Power". She demonstrated how to make several projects using a variety of materials and techniques. Jinger had asked her design team to create some projects to showcase in the segment, and this is what I made. I thought it would be fun to do a Teacher Appreciation project, since it's that time of year.
I used the Cuttlebug Quilled Daisy Kit to make my flowers, using brown cardstock from Papertrey Ink and patterned paper from the Fancy Pants Off to School collection. The stems were included in the quilling kit.
For my vase, I took a spool that I'd saved after using up some Papertrey Ink button twine. I punched a circle of paper and adhered it to the bottom, so that the stems can't fall out when you lift it. I then cut a strip of patterned paper, wrapped it around the spool, and adhered it with Scor-tape. A little aqua ribbon and a button with twine were my accents.
For the coordinating card, I cut a piece of kraft cardstock from The Paper Company at 3" x 6" and scored it at 3". I used the ekSucess Bumpy Roads Edger Punch on my accent strip of patterned paper. The flower was created using the two larger size flowers from My Creative Time's Flower Petal Dies. I rolled the petals around a pencil to give them dimension, adhered them together, and added a button tied with twine. The sentiment, from MCT's My Teacher Rocks stamp set, was stamped with Versamark Ink.
If you head over to Jinger's blog and leave a comment on her post showcasing my project, you will have a chance to win a pack of Echo Park Paper! The winner will be randomly chosen on May 20th, 2012. Jinger wants to know if you have ever done something special for a teacher in your life. Also, keep checking in for the next couple of weeks, because Jinger will be continuing to showcase the flower projects with some great giveaways!
