As a fairly new Silhouette Cameo user, I decided to take a self-paced online class offered by Kerri Bradford at jessicasprague.com, and I am loving it! Kerri starts with the basics, and her video tutorials are so clear and helpful. I made this card using the cuts that she designed for the class. I cut my card base at 4 1/4" so it fits into a standard A2 size envelope and ran the front of the card through the Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder. I also cut a 4" yellow patterned paper circle and adhered it to the inside of the front of the card, so that my writing would not show through.
The original design has a circle cut out in the center, but I decided to use my Papertrey Ink button die to make a little button with the same paper. A little twine gave the card a pop of pink!
There are so many great tips in Kerri's class, and I loved learning how to save settings for my various papers. I now have the perfect setting for cutting Core'dinations paper. Isn't that detail amazing?
The main project of the class is making a mini album. Here's the cover of mine. I still need to print out some pictures so that I can complete the inside. All of the pretty cuts and patterned papers (except for the binding) are provided by Kerri as part of the class. We didn't learn the "print and cut" feature in this class, but I found a great tutorial on the Silhouette blog, so I was able to do it anyway. It's super easy!
For those of you who are past the beginner stage of your Silhouette, Kerri is offering an intermediate course that starts today. I'll definitely be taking that one too!
