MCT 12 Days of Christmas - Day 8

Welcome to the My Creative Time "12 Days of Christmas"!  You are in for a lot of fun for these twelve days - daily projects by Emma and the design team, along with some fabulous prizes celebrating Emma's one year anniversary!  If you arrived here from Jeanne,  then you are headed in the right direction.  If not, please start at Emma's blog here.

For today's project, I used an idea from my friend and teammate Liz at Liz's Paper Loft.  She taught us how to make adorable wall hangings out of roofing tins at Emma's class last month.  I thought it would be great to make them with a Christmas theme for family and friends.

The roofing tins that I found at Home Depot are 5" x 7 1/8".  I began by cutting the white layer at 6 5/8" x 4 3/4" and the patterned layer at 6 3/8 x 4 1/2".  After inking up the edges, I used my ATG to adhere them to the tin.  I then used my Crop-a-Dile to punch holes at the top, and I attached some ribbon.

I used Emma's XL Label Die for my sentiment, stamping it with the border from Whimsical Calendar Days and a sentiment from Gift Card Sentiments.  After inking up the edges, I used my glue gun to add a line of hot glue just at the top.  This way, the picture can tuck under the bottom of the label.

The magnet that holds down the picture is made by using hot glue to attach a little red stitched circle that I cut from Emma's Build a Banner Kit to a 3/4" circular magnet.  On top of that, I hot glued a glass decorative pebble (found in the floral department at Michael's).

My cute little mittens were die cut with Papertrey Ink's Love Lives Here:  Holiday die.  I stamped them with the burlap pattern from Emma's Build a Banner Kit.  Since they are hanging freely and could twist around, I die cut four of the mittens, sandwiching twine in between each pair.  I attached my button to the ribbon with twine and used hot glue to adhere the ribbon to the project.

These really are easy to make and mass produce.  I gave them to my family on Thanksgiving, and they loved them.  I still need to whip some up for my coworkers, but it's so nice to already have a plan!  When you hit Liz's blog on the hop today, she is going to show you another way to use these.  She is so clever!
