I tried a new technique for my Creative Critterz Imaginations design team post today. Last week on her blog, Raspberry Suite, Dawn McVey demonstrated stamping and die cutting balsa wood. I loved the look, and it made me wonder if I could run balsa wood through the Imagine. I haven't worked up the nerve to try cutting the balsa wood with the Imagine, but I was easily able to print on it. My image and the pattern that makes my background paper are both from the Better Together Imagine cartridge. After printing, I ran the balsa wood through my Cuttlebug with a Papertrey Ink die.

I love the rustic look of the balsa wood! See my video below to see how to use this technique.

Cool. I had seen Dawns post and was amazed. It is cool to see you can print on it.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO cool. Awesome job! I love the look and perfect for the birds too! Hugs- Glora
ReplyDeleteJust watched the video- I have the cuttlebug and only used it for embossing. thank you for giving me more ideas for it. Have used the balsa wood and also thick glitter paper with Expression- and it took many many cuts with the deep blade. Never thought of the die cuts or just printing with the Imagine on the wood.
ReplyDeleteThanks for great ideas- your card is beautiful.
you are so creative and talented, love this idea. I am going to have to try this. Your card looks great I like how you had the paper going diagnally
ReplyDeleteKatie this is gorgeous girl! I love the Balsa Wood! I may have to pick me some of that up next time I'm in Michaels! Hugs, Leanne

Love the look with the balsa wood. I don't have the Imagine but I "imagine" I could just stamp on it and cut it with my Big Shot.
